Unimpressive Dec 03, 2010
EgyptAir is the national carrier of Egypt based out of Cairo International Aiport. It is also a member of the Star Allience group and operates a variety of flights across the Middle-East and Europe. I flew with them in 2010 during my trip to Egypt, connecting in Cairo to Luxor and then the return leg from Luxor to Cairo and Cairo to London Heathrow.

Can't say I thought much of them, the in flight service was broken and the airconditioning broke before take-off which delayed us in stifling heat. Furthermore EgyptAir is a "dry carrier" meaning it does not serve alcohol on board. While I understand this for Muslims, some of its passengers, like me, are not Muslim and would therefore like a drink during a four-hour flight.

Not recommended. Not particularly cheap and the service was bad.

It is taking impressive self restraint to prevent this from becoming a personal tirade against the airline with stories of lost luggage, delayed flights, over booked seats and really, really bad food.

I am trying to be as objective as possible considering the experiences that are going to cost me another six months at the psychiatrists' office. My friends are still trying to talk me out of burning down their offices.

I flew EgyptAir to Paris via Cairo on the recommendation of my agent who told my good reviews and simply overstated their standards of service. I can safely say it was the worst airline experience I have ever had.

The good news - they got me to the romantic French city safely and cheaply, so the old adage is true, "You get what you pay for" in this case - even more so...

The flight home still has me in tears, but if you dont mind three hour delays, overcrowded planes with screaming kids and what tasted like three day old food - you can travel cheaply on this airline.

Personally, I won't be doing it again.

Super glad to hear that you made it there and back.. even if you had a crappy time of it. My friend and I had a slightly similar experience. Which I'll write up one of these days! Now on to read the rest!
