So, it was one of those rare and special opportunities where I had quit one job, signed papers on a new one, had a big fat severance check, and the new employer gave me 5 weeks before I needed to start? What to do? Burn as many American Airlines and Hilton miles and go for as long and for as far as I could. Exchange rate be damned!

Woke up in time for breakfast and, after having abandoned hope of going to London, decided to spend the next two days seeing some more sights of Edinburgh and the surroundings. Today I decided to visit Roslyn Chapel. Roslyn is located around seven miles south of Edinburgh…which means it took me almost two hours to get there! First I had to get into the center of town to catch the proper bus, which is only once an hour and the next one was over thirty minutes away, and then…

For the Fall Semester of my senior year at the University of South Carolina, I studied abroad at the University of Dundee in Dundee, Scotland. It was my first out of country experience, and a life changing one.

So it was up to Edinburgh to watch the Scotland/Romania game. Flew up from Stansted and headed out to Dunfermline to stay at Breezy's. Have a good catch up and a couple of beers and a feed before heading to Murrayfield for the game. This time Scoobys by himself but Breezy, Lynne and Charley still agree to sit with me. Scotland win 42-0 and we head back to Breezy's.
The next day I head up to Invernees to catch up with Dick who is across with 5 Sqn. Have a nice quiet couple of days up there ch…

Edinburgh is an awesome city, although I thought that going to the castle was a bit of a waste of time.
I had a wonderful brunch on the firth of fourth with some cool couchsurfers, went to the national museum of Scotland, walked to the top of Arthur's seat, saw a french movie (tell no one) in an independent cinema, drank whiskey, ate haggis (i know, i know, but when in Scotland....), and took a ghost tour. Ah the ghost tour. So I had heard about strange happenings on these ghost tours, but …

On the 22nd we walked up Princes street to Carlton Hill(I think thats what its called) and walked around there for some sweet views of the city. It was actually pretty chilly though and also reeeally windy. Actually, the whole time we were in Edinburgh it was pretty windy, is it always windy there? Anywho, on our way there we went into a cemetary and walked around it for a while. It was really interesting, we spent quite a while there, there were some really old tombs. That evening we had to …

Since I last left you it was just before Christmas... and all things were on the go....
Well Happy Christmas and Merry New Year to all of you!!!
Hanna and I went up to Keswick in the Lake District in North West England and spent 7 nights there with 10 other Kiwis which was so good. I was trying to describe the Lake District to someone a while ago, and I came up with "lovely"- only because NZ has already taken the work "beautiful". It is a really outdoorsey place with lots of lakes -obviousl…
