Feck Aye,   We're back in the capital after a week of being on tour through the Highlands, Isle of Skye, Orkney Islands and Loch Ness! Overcast days, wind and rain just added to the surreal experience. After one night sleeping in Gatwick airport we're off to Croatia.

I traveled to Scotland with 2 friends of mine - Jatin and Simon. Our original plan was to attend the Edinburgh rocks weekend that was organized by the couchsurfing community (www.couchsurfing.com), which started on Friday and ended on Monday. We decided to skip the program and to travel around in Scotland for 2 days. At first Simon and I couldn't decided where to start our journey on Friday evening - Simon wanted to fly Edinburgh and I wanted to fly to Glasgow.  ...

I'm basically not doing any updates now, because Caroline's computer is set up on her bed, and it's really uncomfortable to type for any length of time... and tomorrow I'll be heading up to the Orkneys, so not likely to update any time soon. So today was our last day in Edinburgh and since we kind of wasted our 2 previous days by trying to sort out flights, trains, and accomodation we thought that today we should actually see some of the wonders of Edinburgh. Our tour ended in Edinburgh and we all went our separate ways.  My plan was to catch train that evening down to York, England.  However, there were no more trains running that way for some reason so I decided to stay in Edinburgh for the night, taking an early train in the morning.  I found a room at the hostel I had stayed at before, and as I was walking around town I bumped into two of the girls from the tour.  It just so happened they were staying in the same hostel, so...

on my last day in scotland, i encountered the scottish weather for the first time in its not so pleasant form :) but it was a good incentive to try some more fringe festival shows. learned from my mistakes of day one i queued at the half price booth and used the waiting time to schedule my day. the shows were mostly crap... but rob spence! i love this guy, the scottish didnt seem to like him but i guess he must hit some swiss nerves with his shows - he's quite popular in our country for some...

My brother and his now wife were over visiting us, so we were trying to figure out what to do and although I live here, its terrible the amount of things I haven’t seen! I never slept well that night. I don't know why, surprisingly I was the only one in the room but  I just couldn't sleep. I got up at 7am, called up Haggis and said I'm not going on the return bus back to London. I slept again, woke up at 10am and kept my luggage at the locker. The Queen's Official residence in Scotland is how the sign reads at the entrance. Outside it was very nice and that included the Abbey ruins which are attached to the palace.  We were allowed pictures outside and I did my best to get as many goods one as possible. :) Unfortunately, again, no pictures allowed inside, and that was a shame, because the inside was wonderfully magnificent.  We didn't get to see many of the rooms that are used by the Queen but the walking tour showed sev...

Well, I think it is....Great party. We celebrated NZ's new year at 10am, then Aussie, then a whole bunch more. Met some really crazy fun people and had a blast.Edinburgh is cool. Evidentally it's easy to understand the Scottish accent if you are drunk.
