Edinburgh Ghost Hunter Night Walking Tour Reviews
Great stories and a different kind of tour of a city Oct 31, 2008
Ok, so we went to Edinburgh for a fun-fulled Halloween weekend. We had a great hotel that I will give a full review (Ten Hill Place). We booked the "Ghost and Gouls" tour with Mercat Tours. It was quite cold, windy, and a bit rainy. The witch who was our guide was a great storyteller. She took us to many locations in Edinburgh that have historical significance in a haunting sort of way. Here's abit about the tour:
By day Edinburgh is a bustling metropolis " but at night the old buildings and narrow closes take on a more sinister air…A long history of murder, torture, hangings and plague has left a haunting legacy on the city's Old Town and ghostly apparitions now walk its streets.Enter the underground vaults whose walls, it is said, have absorbed the memories of those who once lived and worked there. This part of the tour is not for the faint-hearted. Cling tightly to the person beside you: we try to leave with the same number as we had on going in! (from Mercat Tours) We had a scream!!! It was dark and damp, (literally)what better backdrop for ghost stories. The underground portions of the tour really gave a realness as it was really creepy. I highly reccomend the tour, especially around Halloween. The stories are great and the storyteller makes the most of the settings. Part of the Halloween Weekend in Edinburgh, Scotland travel blog |
