Convenient Location in Bagan Feb 16, 2013
Lonely planet guidebook has good review about this motel; therefore we book this place on our trip to Bagan. The location is excellent, less than five minutes walk from bus station and local market and plenty of café and restaurants nearby, the further is probably around ten minutes walk from the motel. Opposite the motel, there is one local Myanmar restaurant selling Myanmar and Chinese food at a very reasonable price.

The motel located at the main street with big sign board outside and very easy to find especially at night time as the light lit up the building. The hotel has two buildings opposite each other, (one old and one newer). Unfortunately we get a room at the old building and unable to check the room at the newer building.

The reception is a bit strange, as when we arrived, they give different prices from the type of the room we had booked through the phone. Finally after agree and settle on the room price, we check our room. The room is on the first floor at the far back of the reception area. It is very basic room with one double bed and one single bed with air condition and fan, (luckily the mattress is comfortable enough), small dressing table, small and old television and refrigerator (which is not working), and very basic bathroom which really need a renovation and the water pressure is not working properly as we only get trickle of water when have shower. The soap is provide free of charge, however we need to buy shampoo. They didn’t clean the room at all during our four days stay and we need to request them to change towel daily and replenish basic toiletries.

In addition to this, when we first enter the room, the room smells of strong tobacco/cigarette and I requested to change room, unfortunately it was the only room left for that day and they don’t have any perfume spray. So we settle on that room. It cost usd 35 per night for two people including breakfast.

Breakfast serve at the fourth floor of the old motel building, so it is a bit crowded with so many guests from old and new building, especially early in the morning. Breakfast is very simple, consist of eggs (fried or omelets), toast, water melon, bananas and tea or coffee. In one occasion, the electric cooker was exploded, so they are unable to serve eggs, however we still get fruits.

Other than the glitch on room price, the reception is friendly and helpful and we can use the phone to call and book hotel at other city free of charge. The motel also sells water, beer, etc at higher price than the shop opposite and able to arrange bus ticket, taxi, pick up and transfer service, and tour around the area. They also provide free luggage service for the guest.

There were plenty of horse cart outside the motel which offer their full day service to do temple sightseeing. It cost Kyatt 15000 for full day sightseeing from 8.30am to 6pm with horse cart.
