I am swallowed by sleepiness;Yawns eat me alive.Lying like the dead, my body bleeds into the earth,Creating fertile soil.Maybe I will grow a plant hereAnd name it Luna,For the moon is the only force that moves meFrom this very spot which shelters me so.Did I tell you about my friend?-a tree; he died.And now a hard wooden chair awaitsIn an office building full of progress and chips.Where is this world going so fast?And who is the man-he wont rest.Keeps running, and he makes the world spin.I wa…

So after a long day we finally made it to Quito and our Hostel around 10pm, we´re all pretty shattered so we just crash out. The next day we´re up early and have a great breakfast at the hostel and chat to people about different trips we´re looking at doing. We then head in to town and go round a few different agencies looking for the best deals to the Galapogas Islands. We finally decide on one and pay our deposit, ouch! Then much to Muss´s delight go and have lunch at Red Hot Chilli Pep…

South America was the first leg of my 5 month trek around the world in 2007. I travelled to Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia during May-June 2007, followed by Central America, Egypt, Morocco and Asia.
South American Highlights included:
* Tubing down the Amazon River
* Horseriding in the mountains surrounding Banos, Ecuador
* Taking a light-plane ride to see the Nazca lines
* Going sand-boarding in Peru
* Hiking the Inca Trail and watching the sunrise over Macchu Pichu ... truly spectacular!

Oscar has arranged for the driver to take me to the bus terminal at 8:30 at no cost, very kind of him. The bus leaves shortly after 9. I feel a bit stupid buying two seats when there’s hardly anyone on the bus. Perhaps there’ll be more people later? As we drive towards Ecuador, the terrain changes from flat to mountainous and from dusty brown to green. We have only one scheduled stop which is at Macara, just over the border in Ecuador, but f…

We started off our trip in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, situated in a valley, surrounded by
the Andes and with a couple of volcanoes quite close-by. Although it is
almost on the equator and one would think this would make for a hot
tropical climate, because of the altitude, this is not the case. The
temperatures are actually very pleasant (if a bit rainy, at least when
we visited).The city is divided into two parts, the new city,
consisting mainly of modern buildings and high-rises, a…

Ecuador is an amazingly diverse country with virgin rainforest, snowpeak volcanoes, beaches, typical indigenous villages and of course the unique Galapagos Islands. Mountains full with cloudforest en waterfalls. Incredible views in the Andes and of course mi lindo Quito, a great city that has captured my heart. Ecuador for me is like coming home after living there for half a year. Adoro y amo a este país
