Like similar reviews, I agree, gross hotel, but great location Jun 19, 2011
This place is gross but the location is what keeps them in business. They probably feel no need to upgrade as they are so close to Beale street.

When we finally got checked in, we were asked if we wanted a smoking or non-smoking room, we asked for the latter. I went to open the door on the 9th floor and the smell of residual smoke just reach out and crawled up my nose as soon as the door opened. We were moved down to the 8th floor, where the fire extinguisher next to our room said 2009-2010 on the label. There were several other complaints about the room and it was only meant for an overnight stay, so how much can I really complain for what we paid for. There was no bar to hold the toiet paper in the toilet paper holder, there was mold in the tub lining and the hook on the back of the bathroom was door was getting ready to fall off. There was no fridge or microwave in the room and it had an overall dingy appearance with its low ceilings and yellowish lighting.

Breakfast was weak-who doesn't serve tea for breakfast!!! It was the absolute bare neccesities and the pool looked cloudy (if your kids beg you to stay there and to swim, make sure they shower afterwards).

From what I understand, the garage takes up most of the 1-7 floors and there are rooms on the 8th, 9th and 10th floors. The hotel seemed quite full but the elevators are stiflingly hot. Parking is $10/day.

The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is cause it's location is a plus to the Beale street area. Right downstairs is A&R BBQ (which is a local eatery for ribs rather than the tourist-pulling dives right on Beale street).
Umm, our trip was in 2011; why doe…
