Environmentally friendly, affordable and a laid back. A must stop on the Great Ocean Road! Mar 26, 2010
This is the BEST place I've ever stayed in both category of hotels and hostels in my mind. The Great Ocean Road is a whindy piece of highway that is dotted with evironmentally friendly, ultra modern homes and this hostel fits straight in.

The whole place is self sustaining and when using the common areas and bathrooms your reminded to be aware of the energy your using and educate you on how they are doing their part.

The staff is very friendly and helpfull, the hours for front desk was a little confusing. Make sure you arrive within the hours of opperation because you won't recieve a key to lock your room. If you prebook your room, you'll be placed on a list that shows you your room number and you can put your stuff in the room and lock it, but you still won't recieve a key till the front desk opens.

After arriving in Apollo Bay it took us literally minuites to find the place without a map. Pubs and restaurants are close by and the atmosphere of the town is warm and inviting.

Prices in the town are high, but the affordability of the hostel evened things out. $80 with a YHA or International Hosteling Card or $95 without for a double private room.
