Fair food, nice bar, great ambience, and good service for Southern Comfort food Sep 16, 2010
Where as Bus Boys and Poets is themed after Langston Hughes, Eatonville is right across the street and is themed after Zora Neale Hurston. It has a nice open floor plan, brightly decorated walls, and a small, but great bar with a great Hurricane Zora drink.

When the weather is warm, you an sit outside in a recessed sitting area and enjoy the passing crowd without being at street level. There is always a great and sophisticated crowd. When inside, it is an open space that is not too large, but has a variety of eating options. Sit at a table or in a booth, up on the 2nd floor or in the patio in a rocking chair.

The food is a bit overrated; I'm not sure if a Southerner would find it a bit better or if it would be considered a treat, but the menu is full of pork chops, lamb, fried chicken breasts and ribs. Side dishes include mashed sweet potatoes, fries, mac and cheese, string beans, potato pancakes, collard greens, and other stuff.

Maybe a tourist from outside the US would find the menu very appealing. I mean, I enjoyed what I ordered and my friend cleared her plate of her ribs til nothing but the bottom of the plate was showing, but I wouldn't run back to this place. The fries are seasoned, but dry and they use organic lettuce.

A higlight is that they serve juice, water and some of the liquors in stylish jars. Quite cute
