Hwaseong Fortress: (7) Eastern Stretch Sep 13, 2015
Between Water Gate (Hwahongmun/Buksumun), you will find another stretch with turrets, sentry posts ans other defensive structures. Moat prominent are the 7 metre high, massive round watchtower (Dongbuk Gongsimdon) and the headquarter of the military command Dongjangdae. The latter was also used as a training camp once nicknamed Yeonmudae. Bongodn, the becaon fortress, is described in a separate tip. In The Northeasternmost corner, you can try out bow shooting for 2000 won.

Access to the city wall level is possible from several points (even some uncontrolled), the next ticket booth is at Bukporu sentry, a couple of metres to the west. As part of Hwaseong fortress, you may have to pay an entry fee of 1000 won (concessions apply, fee as of 2015). At the time of my visit, there was no entry fee (September 2015) and it looked like the ticket booths were not in operation or serving only as tourist information desks for quite a long time.
