Eastern Paradise Hotel

The Eastern Paradise Hotel in Kalaw is on a small street right off of the main
road running through Kalaw and is a homey, friendly little place with very nice
and helpful staff.  The rooms are somewhat
small but clean and comfortable with television (well only two Burmese channels
but still entertaining) and hot water.  Since
Kalaw is in the mountains, you don’t need air conditioning.  A pretty good breakfast is included in the
price (about $15/night).  Also, there is
a gentleman who is a trekking guide who works out of the hotel who is very
knowledgeable and friendly (he even shares his whiskey!). Recommended.

We also tried the Lonely Planet's fav, Everest Nepali restaurant, but we were disappointed with the food, the prices and the service was ridiculous! Go to Sam's instead, much much better!!! In Kalaw, we stayed at the Eastern Paradise hotel, really lovely place, clean, comfy, very friendly staff and a fab brekkie!! And US$10 a night for a double including breakfast. … Cooler mountain town
