It's important to be clear that 'Bradford Road' is no longer the main route for traffic between the towns that goes on the newer and faster Aire Valley Road. Bradford Road is north of the river. When it was indeed the main route between the towns, it must have been even more amazing to come suddenly upon this hall, now owned by the national Trust.

Entering the grounds from the road you see the profile of the hall the other side of a large duck pond - a real duck pond with lots of real ducks, almost incessantly feeding off scraps thrown to them by visiting children. The car park is to your left past a fine restored tythe barn. To enter the hall you go through the shop, with the refreshment room on top and enter from the side.

The hall still has the atmosphere of the dwelling house it was and is well furnished with period furniture. Outside the gardens are delightful. I supose we rarely go two years without fiding an excuse to visit again.
