Arch In The Sea Jun 30, 2008
Coming back down from Mýrdalsjökull , and back on the ring road, just before you come to Vik there is a turn off to the right to the little village of Dyrhólaey.

Head along to the cliffs and you sea the arch that gives the place it's name ( Dyrhólaey = Hill Island With Door Hole). Up on the cliffs there are big holes to peer down at the sea below, no Health & Safety nonsense with them being fenced off :D and they are pretty obvious anyway.

Great view of the arch and along to vin and the Reynisdrangar. We were there in the summer, so the cliff face was full of nesting puffins ( or as I liked later, decribed as flying potatoes for the way they hit the water).

On a nice day worth spending an hour or so to see.
