Dwingeloo Overview

Dwingeloo is one of the most charming small villages of The Netherlands, and located next to a very beautiful national park called Dwingelderveld.

Dwingeloo is a typically old farmers village, with a beautiful 'brink' (village green) in the centre of the town.

We drive straight to the centre, which in Dwingeloo is actually a ‘brink’. The Dutch word ‘brink’ is best translated as ‘village green’. The village green of Dwingeloo is surrounded by trees and old farms and it has a pond that was used for watering sheep before they were led out to the heath land.

Another important sight of Dwingeloo is the Planetron a large planetarium that has a huge telescope accessible for visitors (though limited) and beautful projections of the universe on a dome shaped projection screen.
