A mysterious Stone on the Isle of Hoy Jun 13, 2016
On the road to the famous Old man of Hoy lies a fantastically obscure landmark known as "Dwarfie Stane". The Dwarfie Stane is a hollowed out piece of stone that is about 5000 years old. There are various legends that a giant built it but competing folklore states that a dwarf used to live in it. According to Historians it was probably an ancient tomb, but there are no other tombs like this in the UK.

Besides having a cool name, the Dwarfie Stane is located in a very scenic area with plenty of Sea Eagles nesting around it. To get to the Stane there is a few parking spaces and a 5 - 10 minute trek through some soft Pete. The actual stane is pretty roomy inside, and I crawled into it like some sort of touristy dofus.
Me infront of the Dwarfy Stane.
beautiful scenery

inside the stone
