Saksun, Faroe Islands
Duvugardur Saksun Reviews
Excellent farm museum Aug 20, 2010
I put 4 rather than 5 for the rating because there are a number of museums like this on the Færoes and therefore perhaps anybody should think which they want to visit. I am something of an addict and could not pass one but I was reasonably happy to ignore those in areas where we had no other reason to go.
Not to go to Saksun would be a terrible sin. The lagoon with the mountains rising around it and the narrow channel to the open ocean form some of the best scenery I know.
Duvugardur was built as a farm in the 19th century. As with other farming museums in the Færoes, it is now filled with artefacts from that farm rather than imported ones.
Part of the list Scandinavia - a favourite summer destination.
