Good place for a meet-up Oct 20, 2010
Came here to one of the first TB meet-ups many years ago, and had a great time. We spent most of the time sitting outside on the benches talking, but the service was good and the beer was great. The patrons seemed to be a mix of nationalities from around the world, of all ages.

At night, there was some live music downstairs, and a lively scene upstairs where people where locals were watching a rugby match.

There isn't a whole lot to do in Bunratty, so if you are in town definitely stop by and grab a drink or two before checking out the castle.

Hope you had a Guinness or two. You'll have to come back to Ireland.

Drink Gunnies straight from a glass at Durty Nelly's...Brilliant! Aug 22, 2008
This restaurant/bar/pub was awesome! It was located right next door to a huge castle called "Big Johns Castle" right outside of Limerick. The decor/appearance was awesome and the food was great. We got fish n' chips and a bowl of their home make soup with soda bread. Delish! They had like 3-4 bars in the place, and although the service wasn’t the best, it was busy so we understood. Everything else was superb! loved it!

On our second day in Ireland, we went back to Durty Nelly's for lunch. I know that there is a conception about Irish/English food being bland and not very good tasting. I would like to state that this conception is very wrong.

A few of us had ordered the salmon and it turned out great. The portions were more then filling, and I can eat alot by the way. If you're on a diet, just don't eat out over here. I'm sure they can more then fit in your diet. But a prime example was the mashed potatoes. It was so rich and full of butter, that it was more yellow in color instead of white as normal. By the way, the cream suace for the salmon had like a billion calories.

Price wise, be ready for the Euro shock. The dollar-to-euro ratio was in favor of the euro. That and you need to keep in mind that Durty's is a "yank" trap. But the prices are no worst then dining out on South Beach. Keep in mind two things. First, not every place has ice when you ask for it. And second, ordering beer is cheaper than ordering a Coke.
