Perfect Base for the Dam! Sep 02, 2009

The hostel is located just a few minutes walk from Centraal Station, exactly what it says on the hostel site. It is just outside the red-light district, which, for anyone who hasn't been to Amsterdam, is not as sleazy as it sounds. It's on one of the busiest streets in the centre of the city, very close to Dam Square. There are lots of cafes and smart shops close at hand.
I stayed in an 8 bed dorm which was quite small, especially when all 8 beds were taken! Lockers and towels were supplied free of charge with a small deposit required. There is a bar downstairs which closes for non residents at about 1am so it's not noisy at all. There is also no curfew at the hostel which is quite handy in Amsterdam!
All in all I'd definitely book this hostel again or else St. Christophers next door!

Today we traveled as the locals do and rented bikes. I highly suggest doing this at least for a day in Amsterdam, it makes getting around easy and fun and you get to see a lot more of the city on a nice ride. Our first stop was Rembrants…… Amsterdam Day 2
