Durban is the sultry capital of KwaZulu/Natal Province, but something of a poor style relation of Cape Town. It is loud, disreputable, a little tattered at the edges, cultivates marijuana instead of vineyards, and languishes under the hot Indian Ocean skies in beach sandals, a sarong and sunglasses…

This is my final blog about Africa at least until I return! Some photos from a six week trip to South Africa in 2006. Explored much of Kwa-Zulu Natal and some of the Eastern Cape. Although I grew up in South Afica, every time I return i am left astounded by the natural beauty of the country. Highly recommended for anyone who's thinking of going.

Gabby, (angel1681) had a birthday on Aug 16th and I looked at her profile photo and thought, I could give her a gift by changing her shot. I downloaded the shot and did a little lighting and color changes and I hope she is happy with the outcome. Happy Birthday!!

We spent a few days at a game reserve, talking about creation versus evolution, and learning a lot about the flood as well. Robert Zimm, who knows the Bible cover to cover and verse by verse, engaged us in some wonderful deep theological discussions, and Duncan, our personal trail guide and e…

While we enjoyed walking around durban is reletive peace we were warned not to venture too far from the center or waterfront. The victoria market is a no go by yourself. There is a nice shopping mall in the center as well as some nice old buildings. Best of all is the City Hall. We went down…

To try one last sail boat lead, we met up with Roy, who had been recommended to us as a possible contact by a Durban sailing Club. He was a lovely man, wanting very hard to help us, but conceding the relative unlikeliness of finding a boat that late in the season. He did have one idea: to contact f…

Note that these pictures aren't actually from Durban, they are from Phinda Game Reserve and Rocktail Bay, but for some reason Travbuddy doesn't recognize these areas.
