Duntulm is a small village on the Scottish island of Skye, situated north of Uig. The village is most notable for the coastal scenery coupled with the ruins of Duntulm Castle, which affords stunning views of the Outer Hebrides.

Single track roads prevail in this Highland region. This north-west tip of Skye is remote but glorious and has earned praise from travelers and walkers for some time; the trek to Rubha Hunish is worthwhile. An eloquent passage by Alexander Smith (1865) from "A Summer in Skye" still reverberates: "Through the window I beheld the spectral castle, the sea upon which the light was dying… and seated here in the remotest corner of Skye… girt by walls of cliffs and the sounding sea… I confess to have been conscious of a pleasant feeling of strangeness, of removal from all customary conditions of thought and locality, which I like at times to recall and enjoy over again."

Duntulm sunsets are a spectacular and inspirational sight. Visitors may sometimes view the strange and fascinating displays of the Northern Lights as they dance across the sky and reflect on the waters of the Minch.

Duntulm castle ruins overlook the hotel and bay. Duntulm, translated means 'Fort of the Island' and the famous ancient fortress was for generations the home of the MacDonalds, Lords of the Isles.
