Castle Dunnottar by the North Sea Jul 01, 2013
Visit Dunnottar Castle for an unforgettable experience. A dramatic and evocative ruined cliff top fortress in a truly stunning setting.

As you wander around the extensive buildings - from the keep through the barracks, lodgings, stables and storehouses to the less-ruinous chapel and drawing room - you will discover the importance of Dunnottar, an impregnable Castle that holds many rich secrets of Scotland’s colourful past.

William Wallace, Mary Queen of Scots, the Marquis of Montrose and the future King Charles II, all graced the Castle with their presence. Most famously though, it was at Dunnottar Castle that a small garrison held out against the might of Cromwell’s army for eight months and saved the Scottish Crown Jewels, the ‘Honours of Scotland’, from destruction. Crown, sceptre and sword now take pride of place in Edinburgh Castle.

One of the most beautiful places in Scotland Dec 02, 2012
I started this walk (about 2,5 miles - about 4 km) in the beautiful town of Stonehaven. You can reach this one taking a train to Aberdeen (a good connection even from London and the South of the UK). After you get off you continue about 15 min. to the town centre and you can continue to the old harbour, which is a picturesque place also. I continued further up to a war memorial, which you can already see from the harbour - a nice viewpoint also. After leaving this place you go on further to the south from Stonehaven and you see the monumental castle already.

This amazing castle is connected with famous names like William Wallace (famous Braveheart), Mary Queen of Scots (a significant person for the Scottish history). As the castle is located on the coast, you can see fabulous views of the sea and towards the town of Stonehaven.

I read, that this place was a leading picture of an unnamed company and this made the place even more famous. The beauty of it is obvious...
Welcome to Stonehaven!
