We took the long distance bus today from Jiayuguan to Dunhuang. The journey took about 5 hours, with a couple of stops on the way. The bus was not very spacious, so if you have long legs you may feel cramped. It was interesting to see how the driver…hotel from mine, but changed their mind to come to my hotel. I met them in the lobby when I went to have my breakfast. And I explained again what we toured, they then decided that they would just do it and get on the bus to Dunhuang… To Dunhuang, home of Mogao Caves and more |

I enjoyed my overnight train ride to Dunhuang as I met very chatty and friendly trainmates who were Dunhuang locals. A pity i did not take a camera shot with them. Through them, I learnt a whole much deal on what to do in Dunhuang and how to g…hotels clustered and advise us to go in and check one by one and see whichever suits us the best. I woke up somehow before sunrise, looking out the window, I could see the sand dunes of Mingshashan getting lighter. I decided to go up to the rooftop cafe and see what kind of sunrise we would have today. With camera and tripod, I went up to the…hotel, and their prices are reasonable too. Breakfast was included in the room price, so that's just icing on the cake. I had to check out of the room and packed my bag already. Our japanese friends decided not to join us, fearing that such tour trips would ruin them of chasing their time from point-to-point. I really thought with just 5 of us, we can take all the time we could to explore with no tourguide chasing us. But n…hotel just few blocks away from my Shanghai residential each time he is on business trip to Shanghai! Oh my gosh. The previous night I had received news from Hannes that he was already in Dunhuang, so we had arranged to meet today a…Hotel (80RMB/$11 for an en-suite room with air con and tv), shower and walk to a large roundabout where we had arranged to meet.
Hannes had travelled with us on and off for nearly half a year, through Philippines , Malaysia , Indonesia and East… Hannes is back on board, for a trip to the Crescent Moon Lake. |
