 Wonderfully designed but poorly maintained hostel Sep 27, 2009
The Dunes Lodge is a wonderfully designed hostel in central Swakopmund, situated just a few blocks from the beach.
The rooms and dorms are located around a small courtyard and are equipped with no less than two bathrooms per three or four bed dorm. The place has an indoor pool with a well-stocked bar, and also featured an indoor lounge area and pool table. The electrical fence and coded gate make it feel like a secure place as well. On the negative side the place isn't really well-maintained. Bathroom doors that don't close, lights that don't work, taps that are leaking... and that was just in our room!
