Duc Vuong Hotel Reviews
Good value, good location, but slightly poky rooms, free wifi kiosk Apr 19, 2009
We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights in total. the first 2 nights were in the new wing (completed around dec 08), standard double rooms for USD34 per room per night. and the last night was in the old wing, USD28.
We were supposed to be picked up for free as we booked more than 4 nights (eg 2 nights x 2 rooms), but no one greeted us. a phonecall to hotel later, we took the cab (agreeing on a price of VND100,000, based on hotel reception's guidance), which the hotel reimbursed ( after some argument) The rooms itself was clean but can be a bit poky, though I noticed stray hairs (not of the private variety, thank goodness!). the std rooms in the new wing had a kettle, bath and nicer tv, while those in the old wing gives you a flask to fill from a dispenser on the same floor, older tv and no bath. there's air-conditioning in both old and new wing; coffee and tea sachets, towels and toiletries (including toothbrushes), and hotel slippers. on retrospect, we though the old wing rooms were better, ask for 402 and 403. hotel provides free water dispenser, free internet in rooms to use with personal laptops as well as kiosks with computers next to reception. reception friendly overall and bellboy was quick to give recommendations, etc. the lift works. very attentive breakfast is included in price, was an ok affair. its buffet, includes baguettes, rice porridge, some stir-fried chicken and vegetables, an egg counter, coffee and tea, etc. not brilliant, i just stuck to the baguettes which were really tasty with the butter, honey and jam there's a tour agent on the basement that we used for a 2 day 1 night tour to mekong delta. location was great, we could walk to most places once we got used to the traffic. note the guesthouse opposite duc vuong (hua hong i think) charges about USD22 per room per night, no air-conditioning, but looks fairly clean and smart on the outside
double room, with bathroom/showe…
