Duarte's Tavern Pescadero Reviews

We all drove an hour to go to Duarte's Tavern in the little seaside town of Pescadero. Duarte's specializes in artichokes and seafood dishes, as this area of the coast is known for. Duarte's is decorated with wood interiors and deer heads, as is oddly fitting for a far-off seaside tavern.

The artichoke soup is what we came for, and the artichoke soup did not dissapoint. Creamy and flavorful, it was absolutely heavenly.

The rest of the dishes were good but dull. The crabcakes sandwich, the lobster roll, the fish sandwich... everything was some kind of seafood fried and stuck in bread, maybe with a little mayo. Great for some sort of cheap beachside grill, but dissapointing in a moderately expensive restaurant (over $10 for a fried seafood sandwhich?). And ironically, the artichoke appetizer was not fried and a lot of people at my table thought it would have tasted better fried.
