Drug Opera is not was it sounds like Mar 10, 2009
Restaurant Drug Opera is mainly or should mainly be a lunch restaurant. It is situated in the city centre not far from Grand Place on the main walking street. If you go there be sure to ask for a table upstairs; in the evenings they tend to keep you downstairs so they don’t have to run upstairs and the general feel is that you are caught in a tourist trap.

At lunch their food is comparable with two other lunch restaurants pretty much run after the same concept; The Food Factory and the cheesecake. The prises are a bit higher here than the other places but not so much that you need to run away.

Main reason to stay there longer than a quick lunch, is their deserts; especially their pancakes.

Good pancakes.

Drug Opera Feb 27, 2009
the name of the restaurant refers to a former Drugstore. On the groundfloor is the tavern. This is like an english pub. But nicer. It is warm decorated and you feel comfortable overthere.First we had a cappucino and a cola. The coffee was serverd very complete. The food we had was very good. I had an Croque (toast, jambon, cheese) with egg sunny-side up! And a lot of salade with it. My husband had an omelet with vegetables on it. (but no bread underneath it). Mandy had a Pizza which was also very good.(only too big).
We payed for this 38 euro. It is not cheap, but also not very expensive!

Something different, the toilets are upstairs. You have to pay for them, but they are very clean!!! This is also important for a restaurant. If i visit brussels again, i would certainly come back.

After a while we wanted something to eat and drink and we went to the Drug Opera. They say the oldest Pub in Brussels. Now it was time to go to the airport. First we were a bit confused which airport we should take. Because Brussels National is Zaventem. And there is another airport Charleroi.  But we had the right… the first day of Mandy's vacation to Bahrain, Dubai and Sydney.
