One of the most interesting museums i have ever visited Feb 02, 2017
We were really glad that we visited the Drug Elimination Museum as it was so interesting and there were some excellent displays there. Also we were the only two visitors that morning, and i checked the log book which you sign when you enter and the previous day there were only 4 visitors. This museum is really a gem in Yangon, and it is located in a huge building with three floors. Unfortunately photography is prohibited WITHOUT PAYING THE CAMERA FEE ( i did not pay ) but i managed to get a few photos while the attendants were not around. The lady in charge of the museum is an ex-policeman and she took her time to show us certain parts of the museum which was very nice of her.

The ground floor concentrates on the narcotic trade throughout the world, while the second floor shows how the drug producers and traffickers are caught. the third floor shows what the government are doing to help the farmers earn a living with alternative crops. We spent 90 minutes here but could easily have spent another hour but we wanted to continue our journey on the circle line train.

To reach the museum you must get off at Hanthawaddy Station on the circle line and it is about a 20 minute walk or 2,000 kyat in a taxi.

ENTRANCE FEE 100 kyat locals, $3 foreigners

CAMERA FEES 200 kyat locals , $5 foreigners

OPEN 9am -4 pm except Mondays and official holidays

FLOOR SPACE 154,000 sq.ft.
