Driving in Jamaica Reviews

Dec 23, 2006
There are a lot of traffic fatalities in Jamaica, as the not-so-tacit
warning signs will say.  If you're a driver, be prepared for
endless potholes and drivers driving in your lane.  If you're in a
cab, just hope your driver has sound judgement.  Even though the
driving may seem scary, it seems like Jamaican drivers have much
quicker response times (out of necessity) than American drivers do;
you'll be safer in a cab than renting your own car.

Some of the more amusing warning signs:

"Undertakers love Careless Overtakers"

"Arrive alive. DON't Drink and Drive"

For motorcyclists: "Protect your head. Don't end up dead"

i like this review! when i was in Jamaica, i was on a small tour bus and we drove through the mountains...it was really scary! we looked outside the window and there was a 100 ft drop on our side! And when they went around a corner, they beeped their horn so the person on teh other side would know that they are there. haha i love driving in Jamaica, despite the fatalities and scary-ness.
