Driving around Ecuador
Driving around Ecuador Reviews
If you decide to drive around Ecuador, this info might be useful Jul 01, 2009
My first time in Ecuador we rented a car for 2 weeks. Here are my impressions and some things you might know before doing it.
-if you have wheels, you can go wherever you want and stop in every single town you like, without worrying about bus schedules.
-gas is cheap here.
-it's awesome having a place to stuff all your belongings.
-highways in the coast are great.
-when you are looking for a hostel, you have to look for one with parking spots.
-highways in your way from the coast to Quito are not very good. You will need a 4x4.
-there are not many signs along the road, so having a map is extra helpful.
-if you are in a city, it wouldn't be that easy to find a parking spot
Along the coast we barely found a toll, there were more in our way to Quito. When we hit the Panamericana aka Pana.
Renting a car is a good idea for driving from town to town, I wouldn't do it, if I'd stay in a city - like Quito. If you decide to rent a car, go for a 4x4.
Here are some toll's fees, so you'd have an idea about prizes.
