Parking is tough here.  At this time much of the central area costs about 3Euro for two hours which is the maximum on-street parking.  Off-street parking costs more.  I spent 18Euro to park overnight.  I haven't seen anywhere around that doesn't cost to park so be ready for the added expense.  When you are searching for a parking space be sure to check near train and bus terminals which is where I ended up parking.  I found it was cheaper there then the hotel that was near the hostal I stayed.  They would let you park there but it was abotu 50% more expensive.

As far as driving goes, get a good map.  The streets are poorly labeled and you will need to travel by landmark.  The driver's are not rude and mistakes are forgotten quickly.  Just be careful.

Don´t forget, in Ireland they drive on the left side of the road and enjoy their roundabouts.  When you enter a roundabout, or cross the street, it is most important to look to the right because that´s where the first lane of traffic is.

When you enter a large roundabout be sure to watch the lane indicators.  If you´re in the wrong lane it will be difficult to get out at your exit.

We usually stay in Jurys in Galway and it charges too! Galway is quite slow to get around and finding a parking space is a premium.
