This is a decent enough place to stay in Hanoi if you are only staying for the odd night or two. The beds were decent, clean and fairly comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and nice to use - they do have toilet paper too for the Western travellers as well, which is nice! There are quite a few computers in reception, and the free internet is of a decent speed. Some of the computers don’t seem to let you log onto Facebook though, so be prepared to hop across to find the right computer if you are an addict! The staff are friendly enough, and although they organise tours for you, it’s always cheaper if you shop around for a deal with the travel agents located in the backpacker areas. They do provide breakfast, which is of an average quality. Overall, this isn’t a bad stay for several dollars in Hanoi.

cool backpacker's hostel Feb 08, 2010
Me and my wife went on a trip to hanoi and halong bay in Dec 2009 and booked with them... A bunk for 5 $ seemed quier reasonable to us... They picked us up with a cabbie from the airport and that was cool.. The price also seemed to be reasonable for 1st timers as otherwise you will be ripped for sure.... The hostel is 15 minutes walking from hoan kiem lake and i would say the location is not much of an issue...but maybe people who want to get the feel of the old quarters should stay somewhere nearer to the lake... We were given nice bunks..the bed was very clean and comfortable... The aircon was not very good..the bathroom was spotless clean... i accept the beaded curtain was a pain for sure.... They did try to sell you their tour but i dont see anything wrong in it as long as you know what you wanna do.... They were very helpful to me when i needed some currency exchange and offered good rates... The door locking problem was with us also.... but as all our stuff was secured in the lockers so we didnt worry much. We arrived on the christmas eve and there was a crazy party on the rooftop which was quiet enjoyable..... The breakfast offered with the room was just bread and banana... The reception gals were very friendly and spoke good english apart from one local chap who i found in the night was very grumpy and arrogant.... i think it is quiet suitable if you wanna stay as a backpacker.....
