I had never been to PV so figured I would take a quick cheap trip in June and see what it is all about. I read pretty good reviews about Dreams and found a sweet 5 night/air deal. I went not expecting much but when I pulled up and they greeted me with champagne & a cold face towel - I started getting excited. That changed quickly when they said that my room wasnt ready. I went to the bar and had a few drinks - came back an hour later and still not ready. An hour later they finally had me all set up - and boy did they deliver - a beautiful room on the top floor with a nice balcony overlooking the ocean - the waiting was well worth it. The resort was mainly couples and honeymooners so not much for single travelers. Not much happening in the resort in the evening so you need to go into town if you want to have fun. The beach was wonderful, the food in the restaurants (except the buffet) was awesome (I had Filet every night). If you want a nice, relaxing, cheap place to stay this is a nice choice. Probably the best bang for the buck vacation I have ever been on.

This place is ridiculously fun and relaxing. The staff was nice and accommodating, the food and drink (all inclusive) was top notch, and the activities and layout of the resort was great. The beach feels very private since it's in its own private cove, and it feels large enough even though the amount of people at the resort is high. The layout of the place makes you feel like it is never really that crowded... you never even realize how many people are there until the themed nightly festival.
The resort is located a short $40 peso cab ride to downtown Puerto Vallarta, where there's lot's of great shopping and dining. We found a great taco stand by talking to some locals and ended up paying less than 10 dollars for a large meal including beers. Considering how far out some of the other resorts are (la jolla de mismaloya and all the resorts in Nuevo Vallarta), Dreams really feels like it is in a perfect location. This being my fiance and I's first relaxing vacation together (we usually go on more active trips like backpacking in Europe and such), I would return to this resort in a heartbeat. I'm just hoping they have another good deal next year around the time of our honeymoon, or maybe one of their sister resorts in another latin country such as Secrets in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. |
