This is a cool city for walking around. The concert ticket sales people dressed like Mozart become a little Las Vegas stripper card annoying after a while but overall, a great city.

Important: The comments express are mine and in no way intended to promote any product, service or tour. Also, I’m not here to write full ‘play by play’ reports on my experience simply to provide short first hand personal impression. As with all comments, reviews, recommendations on the internet, in books or magazines, they are SUBJECTIVE! We all have individual likes and dislikes and it is your responsibility to perform your own ‘due diligence’ and make educated choices. The bottom line… we live on an amazing planet and I’ve been fortunate enough to have explored a large piece of it. My only suggestion would be to get out there and enjoy every bit of it whenever you’re able.

Walking arround in the 1st viennese district is a quite historic event. You see historical buildings all over this part of the city. You also find many expensive shops in this area (for shopping, go to "Kaerntnerstrasse" or "Mariahilferstrasse", the two main shopping streets in town). To have a look at the historical splendour buildings, walk arround the "Ring" road, which is the border of the 1st district as well. There you'll find the best hotels and many other different important building like the Parliament, opera house, city hall, museums, theatres, university, stock exchange, coffee houses and so on. Enjoy it!

If you need any further special information don't hesitate to contact me. If you would also like a personal city guide, give me a mail, maybe we can arrange something. When are you going to travel to Vienna?

The 'fan zone' where you can view the games free amongst the hooligans covers the downtown area around the parliament. I was hoping to make it to an alternate viewing area (one was a courtyard where the game was projected onto the side of a cathedral) with a more bohemian and less boisterous vibe, but no such luck. I stayed… Vienna: Soccer and egyptians!, then Budapest: Stuff!

I didn't have much time in this city, so I decided to go to downtown as soon as possible. I was walking down the hill when I noticed somebody was following me. It was a Chinese guy I helped at the front desk. He spoke a broken English. He was looking for a place to eat. I remembered in my way to the hostel… Arriving to Vienna or Wien :)

Sure enough my cab driver drop me off a few blocks from my hotel and pointed toward the direction I had to walk with my bags. A bit sweaty and tired, I checked into… 3 days in Fabulous Vienna.

…time, so I ate my sandwiches I had made earlier that morning in the gardens outside the museum before proceeding back into the main downtown area which is where I had been yesterday. The pedestrian "street" was even more crowded and lively than yesterday, as today was not a national holiday and everything was open. I wandered by myself and took time to do some shopping and overall enjoy… Summer in Vienna
