So good we came twice! Jul 19, 2017
Our first visit to this bar and restaurant on the waterfront in Friday Harbor was after a chilly day out on the water looking for whales. It was busy, but we managed to get a table in the bar area, where the menu is identical to the main restaurant.

We decided to start with cups of soup to warm us up - Chris had tomato and I had the clam chowder. Both were excellent and came with warm bread and the restaurant's signature sun dried tomato butter - lovely!

Chris then had the mac and cheese with spicy prawns, and I had one of the day's specials, halibut with salsa, brown rice and broccoli. Both dishes were very god, and washed down well with a Seattle beer, Rueben's Porter. A second beer each brought the bill to not far short of $100 - quite pricey but probably worth it for the quality of the food, both ingredients and cooking.

We returned to Downriggers the following evening, having liked it so much on our first visit, and again were seated in the bar. This time both food and service were marginally less good (the black bean hummus starter we shared was nice and Chris liked his burger, but my cod tacos were a little dull and their margarita, with limoncello added, proved too sweet for my taste) but we still had a good evening, liking the waterside setting and relaxed atmosphere.
