I am leaving America after 6 weeks with only $2! hahahahaha! I left Newark at 8.30 on Thursday night, my flight was with Continental and for some reason an employee had accidentally cancelled the last portion of my travel with them so it took me ages to sort that out with them and i enjoyed being told i was very special several times because it hardly ever happens the customer service woman said! boarded the plane and it was a big Boeing 757 and no lie there were about 50 people on the whole ...

Lori and Mike expressed interest in seeing Ireland with me for a few days, we booked our flights and accomodation and we were off! We got the 10am flight with Ryanair from Gatwick, i couldnt find a way to get to the airport as my parents are on holiday in Turkey at the ...

So we landed back in Dover, our final point of contact in England as we drifted away in May with our bikes and all our belongings. It was good to be back and we had alot to look forward to in the next month. We also had the less than impressive Belgian embassy in London to look forward to, but at the Dover stage we were blissfully unaware of the joy they would bring.

... the white cliffs of Dover,Tomorrow, just you wait and see. There'll be love and laughterAnd peace ever afterTomorrow, when the world is free. Those are my first memories of the White Cliffs... that day in late November 1995 when Robson & Jerome's Double A side cover version (alongside Unchained Melody) hit #1 in the UK singles chart. I was studying my 2nd year B.E in Bangalore, India then and wondering "who are these two well groomed men?" as I watched them croon on To...

I woke up early and my mama was taking me to the airport for once. She dropped me off around 9am, my flight was leaving at about 1pm, i tried to check in at Northwest but i was flying back from New York with Delta (booooo!) The Northwest agent told me i had to go to the other terminal and get my return itinerary printed out as there may be a problem at immigration if i dont show a return ticket so i caught the monorail over to the other terminal and the guy at Delta printed it out for me so i...

Dover Castle

Today we went to Dover Castle.  Great as English Heritage Memebers we got in for free!!!  The Secret War time tunnels are great, and just as they were left after World War 2.  Grounds are very hilly - not good for pushing the pram around, although it was good excersie and really tired my 3 year old out!!  Great scenery - you could see the whole of Dover and in the Docks the boats and ferries.

The white cliffs of Dover

It was quite cold today, yet we had planned to go swimming earlier and so we did. I was bloody freezing! The water felt like ice and the wind blew hard, so neither above or below the surface it felt comfortable. The only thing that was warm were the stones on the beach. But they were dirty and covered with weeds so we couldn't really lay down on them. Despite the cold we stayed at the water for about three hours. By the time we left our feet were white and our toes blue... But hey, w...

Dover Castle Kent UK: Dover Travel Photos

With the nice weather in the UK at the mo we decided to look at the local area for places to visit. We decided to go to Dover Castle. The castle on a clear day is something wonderful to walk around. Probably one of the oldest casles in the UK, with origins in Roman 1st Century. We enjoyed the gental (not) hills the castle is built on. Well worth a look if you are in the area.

It was an uneventful bus ride, we actually arrived slightly early which is normally unheard of when trying to get through the London traffic.  While waiting for our turn to board the ferry, some people took the opportunity to freak out the few employees working at Burger King in the terminal.  Suffice it to say, they didn't really handle having numerous bus loads of people all turning up together. After a short wait we all piled onto the ferry and went up to the lounge area to indulg...
