Dover England. Apr 30, 2017
Mention Dover and most people think,"Ferries" or "White Cliffs". Dover is in the county of Kent England, and is a ferry port facing France across the English Channel. The surrounding chalk cliffs are know as the White Cliffs of Dover and a special sight viewed on a ferry either leaving or arriving. During the second world war, Vera Lynn had a hit song "The White Cliffs of Dover".-- Dover lies south -east of Canterbury.--- Dover Castle dominates the cliff above the town. It is open to the public, i found the tunnels very interesting.--- Since the opening of a differant tunnel, the Channel Tunnel, half a dozen ferry companies have stopped sailing . Today, 2017, P&O ferries and DFDS sail to Calais France and DFDS sail to Dunkirk France.--- Still Dover is more than Ferries. I have stayed here to visit and catch a ferry, but unfortunatly now i use the Eurostar through the tunnel to France and Belgium.---A trip would be to stay in Dover and go on a Daytrip by Ferry to Calais France.
