Beauty spot in the Peak District that the whole family will love May 26, 2015
We've been here many a time and we will continue to do so!

It costs £2.50 to park your car all day and just a short way down the path you will come to a small shop in the form of a hut where you can buy maps, etc. The best buys are a £1 laminated illustrated map which shows the route to Milldale and certificates that proclaim the accomplishment of having crossed the infamous stepping stones, or having scaled Thorpe Cloud, the "mini mountain" to the right of the stepping stones. The route to Milldale is wonderful, though it took us nearly 3 hours to walk the 3 miles as there were many caves to explore, including the one at the top of the hill on your left that you can see through the stone arch. That was a brilliant scramble!!! My 7 year old son enjoyed looking out for the 18 landmarks that were pointed out to you on the cheap little map and enjoyed an ice-cream at the end in Milldale, a charming little hamlet. Be warned though, the route isn't circular so if you prefer such walks then this one isn't for you. Though the walk took us nearly 3 hours to do one way it was obviously much quicker coming back (just over an hour). We had our picnic by the stepping stones before we set off and it is lovely watching the children paddle on the water's edge and listening to them shriek with laughter.
