Doubletree Hotel Ontario Airport Reviews
still "OK" but in need of a little attention Dec 27, 2009
I find this review a little sad to write. I hadn't stayed here in over two years, but stayed a couple of days every two months for about three years prior to that.
In Nov 2009 I was brought in to speak at a "leadership day' in the motel ballrooms; an event which occured the day before the start of a (related) large trade show in the convention center adjacent to the Doubletree. Sylvia was with me, as she had been on a number of my other visits. Her thoughts are also reflected in this review.
We stayed two days. On this occasion our room was clean, but smelled of cigarette smoke even though it was marked non-smoking. The bathtub tile was not clean, nor was the mirror. The balcony had debris and the patio furniture was actually filthy and unusable. When it got dark, two of the light bulbs were out.(note: the room was cleaned on day two- but not the balcony). Sylvia loves to sit out and was quite unhappy about the inconvenience of the dirty furniture.
We stay in all types of lodging in our travels, but this is far below our past experience in multiple stays at the same property. Wireless internet was an expensive addition, which was free on past stays. To use the internet in the room there was a cost. The internet was free if you went to their office center. The center was quite noisy as the top of it was open like a cubicle ( a really tall cubicle) and the noise of the lobby echoed inside. Even the restaurant was, sadly, more expensive and now mediocre. We had a hamburger one night that was pretty overpriced. We ate on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather. The next afternoon we got a cobb salad that was missing one of the essential ingredients: blue cheese. When it was pointed out the waitress said it was mixed in. Not a huge deal but it was disappointing.
Most of the activity at this motel is business and/or conference based. I have hope that our experience was an anomoly and not the result of internal company issues.
