On our drive from Vegas to the California coastline, we got started so late we figured we better stop halfway between and just get up early and drive. Halfway means Bakersfield...lovely!

We did Priceline and got the Doubletree which was one of the highest star ratings...sadly, that did not really translate to a great place.

The hotel was not that conveniently located and it took us a couple turns around to find the right street to get down. We thought it was a hotel but was so spread out that after we lugged our bags in, she put us way around the back, indicating it was faster to drive. No offer to have assistance with our bags.

We drove around back and there are stairs you have to get up just to get inside the hotel - not the most handicapped accessible there.

Turns out our room was located directly next door to some conference room or lounge in which a rather loud party was going on. Fortunately, it was pretty quiet in the room so we couldn't hear much.

We needed to get some stuff from a drug store and when we asked the hotel clerk, she said nothing was within a 5 mile distance and said even then, just Target and WalMart. It was late already so unless something was open 24 hours we were probably on the losing end this time.

When Brett came back to our room, we realized the extra security lock was literally ripped off the door (hopefully not because someone broke in) so needless to say, I was a bit uneasy.

Parking is not the best although we did manage to find a spot not too far away. We had a great balcony...with a view of the bushes and parking lot. LOL.

No free wifi - TMobile hotspot. No complimentary breakfast. Was a bit disappointed and being in the middle of Bakersfield was not helping.

Next time...I will suggest we just keep on driving. LOL

A Quiet Overnight Stay Mar 30, 2008
We got an excellent deal on the internet.
The Double Tree was a perfect location (for a seminar in Bakersfield). Even though it is next to the highway, I couldn't hear any highway noise from my room. The rooms are very quiet.

Nice Hotel, rude & slow restaurant staff Mar 12, 2008
I stayed at the Doubletree in Bakersfield and found the hotel to be a really nice place. Being from the south (Texas) I am used to a certain amount of friendliness that was nowhere to be found. I stayed for 6 days on business, and had breakfast ...read entire review at TravelPost.com

Nice oasis in central California Aug 17, 2007
I had two "nevers" prior to my stay at the Bakersfield Doubletree hotel - I had never stayed at a hotel in Bakersfield, nor had I stayed at a Doubletree hotel. I was an alternate member attending at a conference at the hotel, and I was pleasantl...read entire review at TravelPost.com

Below average for a Doubletree Hotel Aug 04, 2006
When I checked in to my room, there was a strong odor of a cleaning product (rug shampoo), apparently, the rug was still damp.

The bathroom floors were not clean. The parking lot clearly needed to be repaved.read entire review at TravelPost.com

hotels . After poking around a bit, I came up to the Doubletree Hotel at 3100 Camino Del Rio Court. Neatly paved road, wide open spaces, single parked cars, and the hotel itself looked more like a convention center - two floors, red tiled roof, glass frontage… Shade of the (Double)Tree
