Door Peninsula Winery Sturgeon Bay Reviews
Free Winetasting In the North Dec 01, 2009
One of the older wineries and vineyards in this area of Wisconsin, Door Peninsula Winery is a fun place to stop and wine taste while exploring the peninsula of Wisconsin.
Offering over 30 different kinds of wine, most wines use fruits such as peaches, cherries, mango, and pear. Vinifera wines have been added in the last few years to include chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot.
Wine tasting is free with unlimited samples. Wines are inexpensive to purchase ranging from $7.95 to $17.00 for a bottle. Gifts, accessories, and gourmet olive oils are also offered in this large building.
The place is usually pretty busy as 50% of all traffic to the peninsula seem to stop at this convenient location.
The wine bar is at the very back of the building and is about 60 feet long - big enough to accommodate large groups at once.
I am not much of a sweet wine or fruit wine drinker, but those who taste here enjoy the wine. Their classic wines are ok. Perhaps not the most complex or smoothest wines I have had, but much better than some of the other wineries South in the area that is near the Appleton, WI part of the state.
If you are in Door County, this is a "must see" stop along your route.
