It was too expensive anyway Aug 11, 2008
NOTE: August 10, 2008 The local Fire Department was sent to put out a major fire inside of Doogle McGuires early in the morning hours when the business was closed. The fire was determined to have begun in the office area and spread quickly to the kitchen and bar due to the (alcoholic) liquids being used. As of this date the business will be closed indefinitely.

When you see the name "Carvery & Pub" you automatically know the prices go up. Opened last year, this slightly up-scale restaurant and pub caters to the young. Appetizers run from $9 to $17, Entrees from $15 to $35, burgers from $12 to $16. The wine list runs from $18 to $220. The Pub offers a rather small variety of beers, including a few from outside the U.S. Naturally, you can order nearly any cocktail in the lounge. This certainly is not a Pub in the old sense, or as they have in England, but a new Pub as in charge more. We have been three times to see Jazz groups we enjoy. Usually there is a $5 cover after 9pm when the music starts and the crowd comes in near 11pm when the restaurant stops serving. The atmosphere is dark, noisy, and the service is spotty at best. Take care when ordering, you may end up with an $80 or $90 bottle of wine by mistake.

$5 is an acceptable cover charge for a jazz band... but $16 for a burger?? Whooo! Is that due to the meat shortage in Visalia? hehe
