When travelling around Australia, don't fly in and out of the same Airport. If you have loads of time there then you can do this because you have time to go back, otherwise you spend half your time getting somewhere and the rest of the time trying to get back. If you are travelling on a budget then the Greyhound is the way to go, it takes about 12 hours to go an inch on the map but it's worth it because you see more and you can stop off in the little places between cities e.g. Byron Bay and Surfer's Paradise. Make sure that you take a good book, you can exchange these in some hostels on your way round but you will be spending a lot of time travelling so a good book and a large capacity MP3 player will see you through. Book the greyhound for Morning arrivals as you don't have to pay for an extra night in the hostel and invariably, when you arrive, you will throw your stuff in the room and want to go out exploring. Most hostels will wake the guests in the Morning so they can clean, so everyone will be up and about when you arrive, that way you can meet them and get info on the places to go. When staying in Sydney, try and get a central hostel so you can walk home and get a card with the address on so you can show taxi drivers if you get lost, this happened to me! The roads are so long that the taxi drivers don't know where the hostels are. If you are staying out in Manley, get an all day travel ticket. You can get 1 of these when catching the ferry to Circular Quay and the ride the Metro, buses or Underground all day; Bargain. Try and get to the 3 Monkeys for the live music and Scruffy Murphy's to meet people from all over the World. Watch out for 2 drunk Welsh Guys and have a ball, it's an awesome city.

Saturday 10 May.  Left Perth about 15 minutes late 12:30 am.  When I got on the flight attendant said 11A  upstairs, front row, next to the swimming pool.    Good to see that Qantas staff seem to have a better sens…getting caught with bottles of whatever  more than 150 mls.   There’s definitely a window of opportunity selling small plastic bottles at international airports.     Am typing this in the Qantas Club at the international terminal and thought that I’d have… Perth to Sydney to Auckland

After the excitment of Melbourne we set off back to Sydney with Mim & Miles (M&M) on Weds to stay with them for a week before our flight to New Zealand. On the Thursday it was Miles' birthday so as a speacial birthday treat we took him to The…get muddy! Then we caught the steepest train in the world (fact!) back up again. So, I have a 9 hour layover here in Sydney before I can go to New Zealand.  Ordinarially, I'd be aggravated, but in this instance, since I'm coming back to Sydney in about 10 days,  I thought I'd take the opportunity to get out and scout o…get back.  I also caught this exhibit at the museum of contemporary art.  Everything was created on tree bark gathered from the Outback.  It was really interesting.  This layover was a nice preview for my future excursion to Sydney.  I don't think… Sydney Preview...
