If you are ever in Lima, Peru, you must brave the very lively, precarious nightlife of the city's bohemian sector, Barranco, in order to search out Don Porfirio. The signage is completely inconspicuous and the place doesn't really start hoping until after midnight, but once inside you will find yourself thrown back in time: Old divas, who could double for Eva Peron, sing classic Peruvian ballads, dancers in full white skirts and red bandanas do the traditional coastal dances barefeet, all the while the Afro-Peruvian band beats away on the drums...for authenticity you can't ask for anything better...entrance two years ago was $6 and included a drink.
