TEQEJA E DOLLMËS Jan 16, 2017
Inside the citadel of Kruje there are several houses still inhabited. One of them is a home of the Dollma family. For generations, this family has been watching over the small Bektashi tekke, located at the end of a narrow street down to the walls.

It can be easily recognized by its domed roof. Built in 1789, it is one of the oldest in the country. The tekke became a place of worship thanks to the Dollma family, whose men are babas from father to son for three generations( father and grandfather are buried beside the tekke). The spiritual father of a tekke in the Bektashi order is called Baba.

The tekke itself is of a very simple aspect, composed of three small buildings decorated with arabesques, carpets, embroideries and portraits of Bektashian saints offered by the faithful of the whole world.

Kruje, as the cradle of Bektashism in Albania, has a dozen tekkes scattered around the city and its surroundings, including the troglodytic tekke of Sari Satlitik( teqeja Salltikut), northeast on the Kruja mountain. It is accessible on foot by a footpath, 3 km from the hotel Panorama or by a long new road 7km down to Fushe Kruje.

Dervish Sari Salltik, who died around 1297, is one of the most revered saints by the Bektashis, whose remains were buried in seven different places in the Balkans( mostly in Blagaj near Mostar in Southern Bosnia/ Herzegovina and Kaliakra in Bulgaria). Its türbe is the subject of pilgrimages in which both Muslims and Christians participate.
