Holy cow, fancy gelato in the heart of Georgetown that you MUST treat yourself to! Jul 04, 2011
My friend and I were wandering Georgetown one Sunday in June and it was about 90 degrees! What would be better than ice cream? Gelato! Forget Haagen-Dazs, we wanted gelato(Italy's version of ice cream).

It's the original store so it's quite small and beside standing space, there's only about 8 seats for people to sit. They have about 20 options of gelato and sorbetto and I had to sit there and read all the titles (some of which you don't plan to see: cucumber mint gelato). They also sell coffee, espresso, and some basked goods.

You are allowed to taste 3 different flavors and some of their flavors include mojito (which is tart and tastes exactly like would you'd slurp out of a glass), berry basil (and the basil is an after taste that settles in after you swallow the gelato), Thai vanilla bean, and some other fantastic mixtures and flavors. They have several non-dairy flavors and you can get your gelato in a cone or a cup.

It's rather expensive-$9 for one cone and for one single scoop in a cup. For a once-in-a-while treat, no problem and for residents that live in Georgetown, it probably wouldn't dent the pocket book to make frequent trips here, but it would definitely be a good habit to have. I chose a simple option, but their variety would definitely appease anyone who is tired of the same ole same ole. If you have on good shoes, it's up Wisconsin and about 6 blocks north of M street (where most of the folks walk up and down).

Enjoy! I know you will.

head off of M street in georgetown and up wisconsin to one of my favorite spots in DC...incredible, yummy gelato! well worth the walk uphill that i apparently minimize when i tell people it is "a bit of a walk" when we are leaving the potomac waterfront or the shops on M street:)
