Dobšiná Ice Cave
Dobšiná Ice Cave Reviews
Dobsina ice Cave, not really worth the wait Jun 14, 2011
We read about this cave in our booklet we bought when going into the Tatra area of Slovakia.
It seemed to be very nice and well worth the visit.
But that was not completely true, at least we had expected more of it.
At the time we came there, they did not give student discounts, unless you had one really specific type of student id.
The cave was closed two days of the week, which was not mentioned in the nearby city of Poprad, which resulted in having to drive there 2 days in a row.
One could only go on a guided tour, and the tour people only spoke Slovak. That wouldn't be that bad, if at least they had a small leaflet with some info in english(they had that in other caves in both czech and slovakia).
Too make things worse, we were raced through the caves at lignthing speed. It was 'talktalk' and immediately move on to the next part, without any chance to actually look (and feel) around.
What do was nice, were the surroundings of this cave. It is in an area called the 'slovakian paradise' (Slovenský raj ), and it is in one word: Beautiful!
That made up for us going that way for two days, and we spend both afternoons walking through dense woods and admiring great views.
