Djanet Vacation Guide
Djanet (the French used to call it Fort Charlet) is an oasis located in the south-east of Algeria in the wilaya (province) of Ilizi. It is the "capital" of the Kel Ajjer Touareg. Due to the beautiness of its palm groves and its fantastic surroundings it is also called "the pearl of the Sahara". Djanet has a small airport with daily flights to Alger and weekly flights to Paris Orly. To reach Djanet by car was an adventure until a few years ago, the asphalt road from Ilizi was completed.
