Diyarbakir (Amed in Kurdish,Diyarbekir in Ottoman sources) is the heart of southern-east of Turkey. The people who live in the city are mostly Kurdish ,so unofficial language is Kurdish.
One of the historical city which has historical backround up to 9000 years. It is famous with the wall of city ,mosques ,churches and foods.
In turkey a few old town surrounded by a wall, one of them is Diyarbakır.You should visit Ulu Camii (The Grand mosque),Nebi Camii, Virgin Mary Church, Iskender pasha Mosque... Archaeological museum...and the house of famous turkish-kurdish writers..Ziya Gokalp and Cahit Sitkı Taranci Museums.
