Dive Azores Faial Reviews
Dive Azores - Dolphin Watching Jul 28, 2007
We were taken out on a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) that carried 12 passengers, meaning you always get a good view. The boat was fast and we skipped along the surface of the water to where we were able to see dolphins. We saw about four different groups, the bottle nose dolphins being the most spectacular as they jumped out of the water. We were also lucky enough to see Sperm Whales and as they dive down there tails point up out of the water.
Our captain and guide were both marine biologists so they were very knowledgeable and provided us with a lot of information about the dolphins. They were also very professional and didn’t get too close to the whales. The dolphins would swim right up to the boat though and it is amazing to see them at such close range.
We ended up going three times it was so amazing. We paid for two but the second time we didn't see much so we were told that we could come back for free, which was great and we saw plenty more dolphins.
The boat departs from Faial but if you are residing on Pico then you can ask for it to pick you up on the way, as it passes close to the island anyway.
Very highly recommended and worth every penny.
