Ditzum: Visit the Windmill Jul 06, 2017
The windmill in the centre of Ditzum is open to visitors during the summer half of the year on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons, 14.00 – 18.00; guided tours upon appointment. For a small fee of 1 € you can see the interior and the machinery. However, take into consideration that the climb goes up and down very steep, almost ladder-like stairs. The visit is not suitable for people with walking difficulties. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The mill is maintained and operated by a private, local initiative. Three of its members have been trained as “voluntary millers” and occasionally set the mill into operation.

The gallery that surrounds the third floor overlooks the entire village. This view alone would already be worth the visit.

The women of the village run a shop on the ground floor where they sell craftworks and home-made specialities like jam and cakes. Worth a look if you have space in your daypack.
